Go to one of these websites:

Set up time with anyone who is manager level or above.

Do this on the phone:

‍

1. Build rapport: smile, be enthusiastic, and identify a few things you have in common with the person you’re talking to.
2. Identify a challenge: ask questions to understand the main priorities they’re working towards and the challenges they’re facing at their company.
3. Signal that you can solve those challenges: mention specific times in your past where you solved similar challenges or worked towards similar goals.

You can’t do 3 directly or you’ll throw your interviewer off - after all, they just see this as a casual coffee chat - but if you do it implicitly and then follow up, it can work.

For example, here’s a possible follow up email you could write after doing 1 through 3 on the phone:

Hey [name],

Enjoyed hopping on a call to chat about [XYZ unique thing].

[More personalization / an interesting topic you two talked about].

[Name]
